ANEURIN "Freddy" Thomas joined an elite club of Welsh Premier players when he made his 400th league appearance in Aberystwyth Town's 2-0 win at Prestatyn's Bastion Road on Saturday.The 37-year-old is only the eighth player to achieve the milestone behind Colin Reynolds, Gary Lloyd, Andy Mulliner, Andrew Thomas, Timmy Edwards, Hugh Clarke and Marc Lloyd Williams. Thomas arrived in the League of Wales with Llanidloes Town in the inaugural 1992/3 season before first joining his current club. After spells with Llansantffraid and Newtown, he returned to Park Avenue in 1998 for another two and a half seasons, before linking-up with the Robins again, and then Carmarthen Town. Since 2004 he has been back with the Seasiders, where he has now made 319 league starts, second only to Gari Lewis (327). And during a career which has also seen him represent Wales at semi-professional level, he has also weighed-in with 25 goals from ma central defensive position. |
