| Rhyl set to lose several key players |

DESPITE assurances to the contrary from Belle Vue earlier this week, several players look set to leave Rhyl before the end of the month. Midfielder John Leah (pictured) is understood to be on the verge of joining Newtown, returning to the club where he first played 12 years ago before a long stint with The New Saints. Striker Lee Hunt is believed to be a target for Aberystwyth Town boss Alan Morgan, while defender George Horan is attracting the interest of Blue Square North high-fliers Fleetwood Town as well as Droylsden, amongst others. Meanwhile, in anticipation of losing some squad members, the reigning champions have put in seven days' notice of approach for Buxton midfielder Christian Millar and an unnamed left-sided utility player. According to Lilywhites Online, player-manager manager Greg Strong is also seeking potential loan deals from Crewe Alexandra, but is restricted by the rule which allows a club only to take two players on loan in the same transfer window and four players over a whole season. Earlier this week, Rhyl managing director Dave Milner insisted no players had asked to leave Belle Vue despite the club's apparent financial crisis following the withdrawal of club president Peter Parry. "I can't comment on whether our players have been asking around elsewhere, but from the club's point of view no-one has asked to be released," Milner said. However, the club has now confirmed that four players have been subject to approaches from other clubs after a new financial deal was discussed with all the players. |
