Welsh Cup woes for Porthmadog boss
Thursday 28 January 2010
Tomi Morgan PORTHMADOG manager Tomi Morgan has major selection woes ahead of Saturday's fourth round Welsh Cup tie at Prestatyn.
The comings and goings in the January transfer window have left him with newcomers Andy Evans, Robert Evans and Marcus Orlik all cup-tied, while three players have also left The Traeth this month.
To make matters worse, defender Euron Roberts left the field suffering from concussion in the 3-2 defeat at Neath.
His replacement, new signing Huw Owens, had a debut lasting only 12 minutes before he was also forced to depart with damaged knee ligaments and Morgan was forced to bring on youth goalkeeper Meilir Ellis as an outfield player.
Defenders John Keegan and Mike Foster both suffered injuries in the same game but are likely to be pressed into service at Bastion Road, while Marc Gornall has also missed the last two games through injury.
The clubs last met in the Welsh Cup back in 2006 when Prestatyn were in the Cymru Alliance, with Port running-out 4-2 winners.
