 THE FAW wants to change the date of the Loosemores League Cup final from Sunday April 4 because the sponsors are unable to attend.The scheduled date had already caused consternation with both finalists - Rhyl and The New Saints - as well as Technogroup Welshpool, who were all forced to re-arrange Welsh Premier fixtures to accommodate the final. Now, the league has enquired whether Airbus UK Broughton can stage the showpiece at The Airfield on Sunday May 9, a week after the season is due to end. But Rhyl are already understood to have rejected the new date as their playing squad will be out of contract and a midweek meeting could be on the cards to get the final played. Meanwhile, the confusion could clear the way for the finalists to play their Welsh Premier fixture over the Easter weekend |
