| Griffiths' goal dents Eagles' hopes |
| Tuesday 23 February 2010 |
NEATH'S hopes of European football continued to fade after they failed to win at home for the third successive time. The Eagles needed a second-half goal to share the spoils at a rain-soaked Gnoll with Prestatyn, who were making the 340-mile round trip for the second time, after the first attempt to play the fixture was frustrated controversially by a waterlogged pitch. But, delayed in traffic on their way to the game, the Seasiders wasted little time in finding their feet and went ahead through an Ian Griffiths strike after 11 minutes. It took the hosts until the 65th-minute to find an equaliser from Craig Steins, his 10th Welsh Premier goal of the campaign. The point lifted Prestatyn into seventh place, one point behind tonight's opponents. After being given the green light following a four o'clock pitch inspection, the game between Elements Cefn Druids and Gap Connah's Quay was called-off two hours later after a snowfall obliterated the markings at Plas Kynaston Lane.
