 GOALKEEPER Lee Kendall was Port Talbot's Welsh Cup hero, saving one penalty and scoring the winner in a shoot-out at The New Saints. With the scores level after extra-time, Kendall saved the first TNS penalty from Scott Ruscoe and, after Chris Seargeant had hit the bar, stepped up to send the Steelmen into the semi-final with a 4-3 shoot-out win. Aeron Edwards had given the Saints a 14th-minute lead, but Martin Rose headed Town level from a Lloyd Grist corner before Lee John capitalised on a mistake by home keeper Paul Harrison to put them ahead. Alex Darlington levelled soon after half-time, but neither side could find a winner in the remainder of the game. There was shoot-out joy too for Prestatyn Town, who beat local rivals Rhyl 5-3 on penalties in front of a crowd of 683 at Bastion Road. Former Lillies Gareth Wilson and Andy Moran were on target for the Seasiders in an eight-goal normal time thriller which ended all-square. The hosts hit back from 3-1 down after Mark Connolly had notched two for the visitors, and Rhyl needed a last-minute goal from Rob Turner to take the tie into extra-time. Keeper Jon Dunt saved the vital penalty from Gareth Owen to send Prestatyn through. Bala Town reached the last four for the first time in their history, but needed extra-time to see-off the challenge of plucky Welsh Leaguers Afan Lido. Sub Osian Jones finally broke the deadlock in the 98th-minute, with fellow sub Neil Fisher sealing the win two minutes from the end.
