| Tuesday 09 March 2010 |
CAERNARFON Town's new interim committee met for the first time on Monday night to discuss short term arrangements for carrying on with business at the Oval for the next few weeks.Highest on the agenda was the intention to hold a public meeting to openly air the club's current position and to seek out new people to work on behalf of the club. In addition to a short term rescue plan, an outline of a five-year plan will also be presented and acting chairman Arfon Jones said: "We will be clearly setting out our initial thoughts on a way forward for the club, but at the end of the day it is up to the supporters and people of the town to shape the club's future. "This meeting will offer them the opportunity to air their views, share their thoughts and contribute openly to shaping this club's future." He also emphasised that the meeting was intended to recruit new blood, agree on a new club structure and ensure that the club is operated on open and democratic principles. "Every single one of us who met tonight are of the same opinion, that we are an interim committee only. "Ultimately it is up to the supporters to nominate the people they think should take this club forward in the long term and agree on the basis why which we CTFC forward." Other short term measures agreed at Monday's meeting included: A reduction in admission fees until the end of the season to £4 adults, £2 pensioners and £1 children with youngsters accompanied by adults admitted free. The price of the programme is also being reduced to £1 from £1.50. The launch of a public appeal to raise money to not only save the club, but to take it forward into the new decade. Anyone wishing to help can send their donations c/o Mark Jones, Caernarfon Town Football Club, The Oval Marcus Street, Caernarfon LL55 2LT, cheques made payable to Ffrindiau Caernarfon. Arfon Jones emphasised that the public meeting in the social club on March 22 was fundamental to the club's future and urged every single person who has an interest in seeing football continue at the Oval to attend. "This meeting is about reversing the decline of the club over the last few years, revisiting our fundamentals as an organisation and a business, and looking at how we can all work together to make Caernarfon Town a club to be proud of, off and on the field," he added. |
