| TNS title hopes fade in Druids' draw |
| Friday 19 March 2010 |
THE New Saints' title hopes were dealt a mortal blow as they were held to a draw at bottom club Elements Cefn Druids. Goalkeeper Chris Mullock was the hero, saving a Chris Sharp penalty and making a string of fine saves as the Ancients ended a sequence of 136 games without a scoreless draw. At a rain-soaked Plas Kynaston, TNS spent the majority of the second-half camped in the Druids' territory, with Mullock saving twice from Sharp and once from Craig Williams within the space of a minute. And the hosts almost created a major upset when Josh Russell fired wide from a Josh Griffiths pass with only Paul Harrison to beat. Connah's Quay hopes of playing in next season's Super 12 received a serious blow as they lost the Flintshire derby 1-0 at home to Airbus UK Broughton, Jack Abraham scoring the only goal of the game. Aberystwyth's six-game winning run came to an end as they needed a Luke Bowen equaliser five minutes from time to draw 1-1 at Bala Town, for whom February's Welsh Premier player of the month, Ricky Evans, was the scorer.
