| Crucial week for the Old Gold |
| Monday 22 March 2010 |
CARMARTHEN Town player-manager Deryn Brace believes this week is the most important in the club’s long and illustrious history. Home matches against Bala Town, who occupy the coveted tenth spot that will guarantee Welsh Premier football next season, and Newtown, one of the other contenders for the new formula, will be crucial to the Old Gold. Brace’s side are in 11th spot, six points adrift of Bala, who have played a game more, and the Robins are now only three points adrift of the Richmond Park club after beating Prestatyn on Saturday. "This club has enjoyed great occasions in the past, winning trophies and playing in Europe, but I believe the next two matches are the most important in the club’s history," Brace (pictured) said after Saturday's 3-2 reverse at Bangor City ended a run of nine games on the road undefeated. "It’s up to the players now to show what they can do, but we will have to defend better than we did today as we were woeful at the back." Town's home form has been a problem all season with only three wins in 12 attempts. |
