CARMARTHEN Town's player of the year, Kris Thomas, is the third player to leave Richmond Park in the close season after agreeing a return to Llanelli. "Kris has decided to leave Carmarthen for the second time as he felt that he had a better chance of playing at a higher standard by moving to Llanelli," Old Gold boss Deryn Brace told the club's website. "Yes we are sorry to see him go but we wish him well for the future." A Welsh Under-18 international who left Llanelli to join Cwmbran, 27-year-old midfielder Thomas moved to Merthyr Tydfil in the close season of 2005 making a rapid return to the Crows in September before moving back to Llanelli a month later. After another short spell with the Martyrs in February 2006, after playing just two games he signed for Carmarthen Town. After three seasons at Richmond Park, Thomas then joined Blue Square Premier Forest Green Rovers in July 2008 but, after his release from the New Lawn, rejoined the Old Gold the following January. He has scored 18 goals from a total of 235 (+11) Welsh Premier appearances. Midfielder Paul Fowler and striker Craig Hughes have already signed for Neath and chairman Gareth Jones says: "We are disappointed to see both Paul and Craig leave the club. "Paul Fowler has been an influential feature of Town’s midfield since he signed from Bridgend Street and he quickly got to grips with the Welsh Premier League and enjoyed European football with the club. "His strong and skilful play was a joy to watch and his never-say-die attitude clearly influenced his fellow players. It was very pleasing that he received international recognition whilst at Richmond Park. "Although Craig did not have a prolific season goal wise he was a very influential player within the squad and due to injuries at the start of the season he was unable to contribute as he would have wanted to the team."
