ANDY Legg has branded the Welsh Premier League a "laughing stock" as clubs still wait to discover the format of next season's competition.Llanelli are one of 12 teams that will take part in a new elite top division next August but, with the new campaign's big kick-off less than three months away, the Reds like the other Premier league sides have yet to be told how the season will be structured. "It's a joke, we don't even know the format of the league," the Llanelli manager told the South Wales Evening Post. "The league's a laughing stock at the moment. It's not good. "We haven't got a clue how many games we'll be playing or what the situation is with the cup. It's embarrassing. "Hopefully we'll find out next week, but it makes planning very difficult." One thing Legg can be certain of is that the Reds won't face Rhyl in the league next season after the Lillywhites' application to join was rejected. He admitted the loss of the division's best supported club, who won the title in 2008-2009, was a major blow. "I'm disappointed because the league won't be the same without them," he said. "They're a good club with good facilities and it will be a shame to lose one of the best grounds and the best pitches. "They're one of the better teams and the league will miss them, it will be worse off without them. "For whatever reason they're not in there, but what's happened has happened. "Hopefully they'll be back soon." |
