PORT Talbot have signed Wales Under-23 semi-professional international Craig Jones from south Wales rivals Llanelli. The locally-based wingman completed a move to the GenQuip Stadium on Monday to become the Steelmen's third new signing of the summer. "As a local youngster we have admired Craig for the last few years and he will be a big part of our plans for next season," says Talbot chairman Andrew Edwards. "As well as being a talented footballer, Craig is also a Port Talbot lad and I am sure he will benefit from this move as much as we will." Jones came through the Afan Lido academy and played one Welsh Premier game as a sub for Talbot's fierce rivals before joining Swansea City. After moving back to Lido, he featured in the Welsh Cup finald defeat to Carmarthen Town, before moving to Stebonheath Park in July 2007. But, despite scoring six goals from 27 (+2) league appearances in his first season with the Reds and earning a place in the league managers' team of the season, the 23-year-old has spent much of the last two campaigns on the substitute's bench. Last week, Town completed the signings of Nicky Palmer and David Brooks from Carmarthen and Bridgend Street respectively as manager Mark Jones strengthens his squad ahead of the new season.
