RHYL have issued an upbeat statement on the financial situation at Belle Vue after their surprise relegation into the Cymru Alliance. However, the club have not confirmed whether Greg Strong will continue as player-manager next season or which members of the playing staff are likely to be offered terms. "It is well known that we have experienced financial difficulties during the course of this past season," says a message to supporters from chairman Dave Milner. "Everyone at the club and in the community has been and is working together to see us through this difficult period. "It does not help our cause to see and hear misinformed reports of our situation and, to quote Oscar Wilde, reports of our death have been greatly exaggerated!
- Rhyl FC is not in debt to the tune of £500k !
- Contrary to what has been said by some, Rhyl FC is financially viable. There is no question that we have faced financial difficulties and need to work together to come through stronger than ever. We will do this together!
- We did not choose to be relegated. We were very surprised not to be awarded a domestic licence as we believed we had met the conditions to do so. In saying this we make no criticism of the FAW’s decision but of course wish it had gone in our favour.
- We will advise you later this week of (a) the appointment of the managing director and manager for next Season; (b) shortly after that we will advise you regarding the playing staff and (c) shortly thereafter the composition of the board of directors and the remaining key positions at the club.
- Director Dave Simmons is working on arranging a venue for us to have an open meeting for the supporters, manager and key club personnel. We hope to arrange this before the end of June."
