Stephens makes switch to the seaside

Ross StephensPRESTATYN Town player-boss Neil Gibson has strengthened his midfield with the signature of Newtown's Ross Stephens.
The Llanidloes-born player, who made Welsh Premier appearances for Caersws in 2003/4 during a loan spell from Shrewsbury Town, was released from the Gay Meadow after a further loan period at Redditch United and made a permanent move to the Bluebirds in June 2005.
A Welsh Under-18 and Under-20 international, he moved to Rhyl in January 2007, but decided to quit at the end of the season and signed for Welshpool Town, moving on to Aberystwyth in January 2009.
A switch to Latham Park last summer saw him notch 11 goals last season, increasing his career total of goals to 47 from 156 (+8) Welsh Premier appearances.
"I rate Ross highly, he is a natural left-footed midfielder who creates great opportunities at set pieces," Gibson told the Seasiders' official website.
"He will give the team more balance as at the moment there is only Jack Lewis who is a natural left-footer. In my view he is the best crosser of a ball in the league and he weighs in with his fair share of goals.
"Last season he hit double figures from 33 appearances and I hope he will repeat that sort of form for us in the coming campaign.
"He is still only 25 but is vastly experienced and has plenty of years ahead of him, Ross is exactly the type of player we need to help us push on and win things, I am delighted to have him on board," added Gibson.
