| Monday 21 June 2010 |
THE New Saints' possible Champions League opponents have been narrowed down to six ahead of today's second qualifying round draw in Nyon. The Welsh Premier champions have been placed in Group 3 and could face Irish champions Bohemians, as well as highly-rated Norwegians Rosenborg BK and Austrians Salzburg, AIK Solna (Sweden), BATE Borisov (Belarus) or FK Ekranas (Lithuania). Bohemians beat Rhyl 9-3 on aggregate in the InterToto Cup two years ago, while the Saints have previously faced opposition from both Sweden and Lithuania on their European travels. BATE Borisov were impressive on their Champions League debut two years ago, also beating AEK Athens and Everton in last term's Europa League. Salzburg also impressed in the competition, winning six out of six before elimination in the last-32. Photo: Bohemians beat Rhyl two years ago. |
