| Annoyed Wingmakers to rest key players |
| Wednesday 08 September 2010 |
AIRBUS UK Broughton are likely to field a sub-strength line-up in tonight's Loosemores League Cup tie at Newtown. The Wingmakers have reacted with annoyance after the game was swtiched from Tuesday to Wednesday, because Newtown played a Welsh Premier League match at Neath on Sunday. But the Broughton side are due to meet Bangor City at Farrar Road in a top of the table league clash on Friday night, just 48 hours after the Newtown game. Manager Craig Harrison is likely to make multiple changes, whilst still hoping to field a side strong enough to hold on to a two-goal cushion from the first leg, with the winners due to meet The New Saints in the last eight. Likely absentees are Kristian Rogers, Matty Woodward, Danny Desormeaux, Ashley Williams, Andy Moran and Carl Owen, with further players who have started league games of late potentially being protected for the game at Farrar Road. Phil Clarke and Richie Dorman have been carrying slight knocks and are unlikely to be risked by Harrison, who has Matty Cook available again with former Wolves star Jamie Smith set to begin his campaign this evening. Wrexham youngsters Leon Clowes and Nick Rushton are also included. Photo: Mark Allen celebrates a goal in the first leg win. |
