| Ten-man Bluebirds stun the Eagles |

A BELOW-strength Haverfordwest County side produced a first round shock with 10-men by beating big-spenders Neath in the Loosemores League Cup. Leading 2-1 from the first leg at their New Bridge Meadow home, the Bluebirds rested several key players including Sunday's goal hero Chris O'Sullivan, instead handing a debut to youngster Rhys Dalling. Striker Jack Christopher was the Eagles' tormentor, scoring a vital away goal in the 18th-minute after Paul Cochlin, who was first on the scoresheet against Newtown on Sunday, again opened the home account after seven minutes. The visitors suffered a blow when centre-half Gareth Elliott was sent-off in the 35th-minute for a second yellow card inside a minute, but they took the lead through the impressive Christopher, who went close on several more occasions, three minutes after half-time. Neath finally broke the County resistance with 11 minutes remaining when sub Andy Hill levelled, but it proved too little, too late for The Gnoll outfit. Newtown beat Airbus UK Broughton 1-0 at Latham Park with a first-half goal from Chris Hartland, his first for the club since joining from Cinderford Town in the summer. But it wasn't enough for Andy Cale's Robins, as the Wingmakers went through 4-3 on aggregate courtesy of last week's 4-2 first leg win at The Airfield. Haverfordwest face Aberystwyth in the quarter-finals, while Airbus will play holders The New Saints.
