BANGOR City's first-ever Welsh Premier game at Nantporth appears to be on after confusion following a pitch inspection this morning. The FAW's head of competitions, Andrew Howard, tweeted at 11.00am "The WPL match @bangorcityfc v @ptfcseasiders has been postponed. "Referee Kevin Parry has been at Nantporth and declared it too dangerous." However, Bangor City have just announced that the game is definitely on as the Citizens host Prestatyn Town, who ironically were their last visitors to Farrar Road at Christmas. Despite heading the table at the half-way stage, City boss Nev Powell has only one target in mind - qualification for Europe. With the new stadium likely to meet Uefa standards the Citizens, who have not played a European game in the city since 1998, are hopeful of staging a Euro tie at Nantporth this summer. “We desperately want to bring European football back to the city, whether that’s through winning the title or finishing second or third,” declared Powell to the Daily Post. “We’ve qualified for Europe four times since I’ve been manager – it would be a dream to make it five and play at Nantporth.” City are returning to league action after a month’s break: "The players can’t wait to get started - they’re champing at the bit,” added Powell. "We’re a semi-professional club yet we’re top of the league and have scored more goals than the two full-time teams below us. "We’re scoring from all over the pitch, not just from the forwards, and confidence is high."
