CARMARTHEN Town beat Airbus UK Broughton 1-0 to heap pressure on the sides around them in the basement zone. A ninth-minute goal from Dan Macdonald, his first in the Welsh Premier since signing from Monmouth Town in January, was enough for the Old Gold to beat the Wingmakers at Richmond Park in manager Andy Preece's first league defeat since taking the reins. The win lifted Mark Aizelwood's side to within a point of Aberystwyth Town, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Port Talbot Town on Friday night. And Carmarthen now have a three-point advantage over bottom club Newtown, who drew 1-1 at home to Afan Lido after taking a first-half lead. Callum Wright's 39th-minute shot was turned into his own net by Lido defender Craig Hanford, but Leon Jeanne rescued a point for the visitors 20 minutes from time. Andy Dyer's side are now just two points behind Airbus at the top of the Play-Off Conference.
