Preece determined to make cup history

Carmarthen v AIrbus ANDY Preece is determined to make Welsh Cup history when Airbus UK Broughton host Carmarthen this Saturday.
A home win would send Airbus into the semi-finals of the Welsh Cup for the first time in the club’s 66-year history and Preece says: "It’s a great opportunity to get to the semi-finals. It’s never been done before in the history of the club. We want to get into the history books.
"We’re at home so we’ve got to be positive."
The match offers a swift chance of revenge for the Airmen, who lost 1-0 to the Old Gold in an away Welsh Premier fixture last weekend.
But Preece felt his side deserved at least a point and hopes home advantage will tip this weekend’s tie in the Wingmakers’ favour.
Defender Tommy Holmes (hamstring) remains sidelined while brothers Glenn and Ross Rule are both suspended.
However, Gavin Cadwallader has been given the all-clear to play after recovering from a heavy blow to his cheekbone.
After last Saturday's success, visiting player-coach Neil Smothers is in confident mood: "The players are taking on board what we are telling them and are looking solid and organised," he told the Carmarthen Journal.
But Dan MacDonald, who scored the decisive goal against Airbus, is ineligible after being singled out for praise by Smothers.
"Dan is playing a slightly different game from the one he played at Monmouth but his attitude and application are excellent," he added.
"It was only his second game today but he has settled in really well and his partnership with Jack Christopher looks an exciting one.
"We need fear no team we play until the end of the season."
