| Druids not relying on surprise element |

CEFN Druids' manager Huw Griffiths admits his side are not likely to take Aberystwyth Town by surprise in the Welsh Cup quarter-finals. The last remaining side in the competition from outside the Welsh Premier, the Ancients shocked Prestatyn Town with a 2-0 win at Bastion Gardens in the previous round. "They will be aware of us after we beat Prestatyn," Griffiths told the Wrexham Leader. "They will know what we are capable of whereas we surprised Prestatyn with how we played. "They will have had us watched after we beat Prestatyn and they will be expecting a tough game after we beat Rhyl last week." Druids can go into the game with the pressure off and Griffiths is acutely aware that Aberystwyth will expect to reach the last four. "We can enjoyed the day," he added. "There is no pressure on us at all as we are not expected to win." Druids are unable to field new signings Mike Burke and Gary McConnell up front as both strikers are cup-tied. Home manger Alan Morgan expects a massive test: "A home draw was what we wanted but it's going to be a really hard game," he says. "They are a physical side and will make life difficult for us, but we'll make sure we're up for it. "I've been there before with Tranmere, where we have gone looking to cause a cup shock, they will fancy getting a win at Aberystwyth, but we have also got to be ready for the challenge." Josh Shaw and Mike Walsh are both cup-tied for the hosts, while defender Craig Williams faces a fitness test. Photo: Cefn Druids' boss Huw Griffiths. |
