| Conno set to leave Belle Vue |

DESPITE the boost of retaining John Leah for the rest of the season, Rhyl are set to lose leading scorer Marc Connolly to Colwyn Bay. According to Lilywhites Online, midfielder Connolly is expected to play his last game for the club in the Welsh Cup fourth round tie against Pontardawe Town on Saturday. A Lilywhites' source has confirmed he is then likely to join the Unibond League Division One North promotion chasers, who are managed by ex-Belle Vue assistant boss Neil Young. The futures of three other players linked with a move away from Belle Vue - captain George Horan, striker Lee Hunt and utility man Greg Stones remain unclear. Stones had also been linked with a move to the Seagulls, while Droylsden are understood to have baulked at a transfer fee for central defender Horan. The loss of Connolly will be a major blow after the 25-year-old midfielder has emerged as the club's leading scorer, breaking a modern-day club record earlier in the season by scoring in eight successive games. The player does not want to leave Belle Vue, but says he needs financial security with an addition to his family on the way in the summer. |
