RHYL player-manager Greg Strong has signed 19-year-old Philip Ojapah on-loan from Oldham Athletic for the rest of the season. The midfielder was handed his first chance in League football by the Latics, who offered him a 12-month professional contract in August. Ojapah starred for non-league outfit FC Liverpool and, after impressing in a 10-day trial at Boundary Park, convinced boss Dave Penney he had the potential to make the grade in League One. "He has got what it takes. There is still a long way to go, Philip needs to buckle down and work hard now," said Penney. A few months later, Ojapah was loaned to Stalybridge Celtic for a month to help out during an injury crisis at Bower Fold. He is available for Rhyl's Welsh Cup match at Belle Vue against Pontardawe on Saturday. Photo: Ojapah signs for Oldham boss Dave Penney [Oldham Athletic photo]. |
