THREE more players are set to leave reigning champions Rhyl but, in a surprise move, leading scorer Marc Connolly is staying at Belle Vue. According to Lilywhites Online, after today's 7-0 Welsh Cup victory over Pontardawe Town, Lillies' manager Greg Strong announced that striker Lee Hunt and midfielder Greg Stones (pictured) had played their last games for the club, while skipper and central defender George Horan is also likely to move on. Today was supposed to be Connolly's final game for the Lilywhites before a switch to Colwyn Bay. However, Strong revealed a backer had come forward to pay Connolly's wages for the rest of the season. The final decision now rests with the player, but Colwyn Bay have told Lilywhites Online they have received a text from Rhyl to say the Conno deal is off. Stones said this evening that he is definitely joining Colwyn Bay, but it is not known which clubs Hunt and Horan are bound for. Strong has lined up several replacements already including loanee Philip Ojapah from Oldham Athletic, ex-Crewe Alexandra centre-back Russell Courtney and winger Joe Dixon. |
