| Leah handed captain's armband at Rhyl |
| Monday 01 February 2010 |
JOHN Leah has been handed the captain's armband at Rhyl just days after being linked with a move away from Belle Vue. And Mark Connolly, who was destined for Colwyn Bay on Saturday, will be the new vice-captain. Current skipper George Horan has left the Lilywhites because of the current financial difficulties and player-boss Greg Strong has turned to two of this season's most successful players, who are remaining after financial packages were structured to keep them on board. Leah (pictured), who was a target for Newtown boss Darren Ryan, celebrated with a hat-trick in Saturday's 7-0 Welsh Cup victory over Pontardawe Town. And Connolly, who leads the goal chart at Belle Vue, also scored twice to bring his season's tally to 21 in all competitions. Greg Stones also left this weekend to join Colwyn Bay, while striker Lee Hunt is expected to sign for another Welsh Premier club, rumoured to be Aberystwyth Town, before the transfer window closes at midnight. |
