Welsh Premier League Football - Nomads must end 16-year jinx to beat TNS

CONNAH'S Quay must end a 16-year hoodoo to prevent The New Saints extending their Welsh Premier lead on Friday night.
Nomads have not beaten the Saints on Deeside since a 3-2 success at their old Halfway Ground in the second season of the League of Wales in 1994.
Player-manager Mark McGregor is asking his players to "stand up and be counted" after a disappointing Welsh Cup exit at the hands of Welsh League Afan Lido last weekend.
"We’ve got 17 games and the minimum we need is probably 30 points, so we need 10 victories from those games," he says.
"We’ve got some tough ones, especially on Friday night with TNS, but this is it now. There’s no turning back and everybody’s got to stand up and be counted."
"They’ve gone 16 games unbeaten and it’s our first Friday night home match in a long time so hopefully hopefully we can do to them what Afan Lido did to us and cause an upset. If we go and put in a decent performance then we can get something."
The visitors, who have a full-strength squad, are expected to hand a debut at some stage to new striker Chris Sharp, who joined from Bangor City last week, while Quay have Stuart Cook and Andy Olsen ruled-out through injury.
