| Another injury blow for Newtown |
| Friday 26 February 2010 |
NEWTOWN boss Darren Ryan has received another blow with the news that striker Jamie Breeze will miss the rest of the season. The young striker sustained a broken jaw playing for Powys College agains Swansea College at Newtown on Wednesday. Breeze underwent surgery at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and is almost certainly out for the rest of the campaign. "Jamie has broken his jaw in two places and it is a devastating blow for the player and club," said Ryan, who has already lost the services of midfield signing Richie Harris with lateral and cruciate knee ligament damage. "He has been like a breath of fresh air since forcing his way into the side and we are really going to miss him." Despite the setback, Ryan is confident that the Robins can still secure a place in the Welsh Premier next season. "The performances have been all that I could ask for," he said. "I know we were all a little disappointed to lose 2-0 to The New Saints last week but you have to remember the huge gulf between us and them, both financially and in playing depth. "We now have to turn good performances into points, starting on Saturday." Photo: Jamie Breeze scores for Newtown against Haverfordwest [John Evans]. |
