| Late goals woe for west Wales duo |
| Saturday 27 February 2010 |
WEST Wales duo Carmarthen and Haverfordwest both lost ground in the race for Super 12 after falling to late goals. The Old Gold went down 1-0 at home to Airbus UK Broughton, for whom former Wrexham wingman Josh Johnson got the winner in the 89th-minute, shortly after coming off the bench. The win lifted the Wingmakers three points clear of their opponents, who are in 11th place. One place below are Haverfordwest, who fell 2-1 at home to Newtown thanks to a brace from Ross Stephens, who snatched the winner two minutes from time. Striker Jack Christopher had earlier levelled for the hosts in the 72nd-minute. The basement battle at the Caersws Recreation Ground was also settled by a late goal, with Mark Griffiths sinking Elements Cefn Druids in the 88th-minute for a 1-0 win. Geraint Lewis had earlier missed a penalty for the Villagers who recorded only their second victory of the campaign to move off bottom spot, which is now occupied by today's opponents.
