BALA Town have signed former Chorley striker Chris Mason, who has impressed by scoring several goals in pre-season. Mason left the Lancashire club for a spell with Floriana in Malta last summer after starting his career with League Two side Bury, where he played in the reserves. He has also played professionally in Sweden and has netted seven goals from the five friendly games he has played so far. Returning to Maes Tegid is 19-year-old defender John Irving, who was voted the Lakesiders' young player of the year in his first season at the club. The Liverpudlian was a consistent member of Everton's reserves, being named player of the year two seasons running after being handed the captain's armband in February 2007. Irving, who has appeared for the England Under-16s, was released from Goodison in June 2009 before joining Bala, where he made 22 (+1) Welsh Premier appearances last season. |
