| Steelmen beat 10-man Llanelli |
| Friday 20 August 2010 |
TEN-man Llanelli slumped to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Port Talbot on Friday night, while Aberystwyth were held at home by Newtown. The Reds suffered an early blow at Stebonheath Park when Chris Holloway was forced-off in the ninth-minute to be replaced by defender Ross Jones. The youngster soon picked-up a yellow card followed by a second just after the break, leaving the home side to battle on with 10 men. They fell behind to a Liam McCreesh goal and Luke Bowen added a second for the Steelmen eight minutes later, with sub Nathan Cotterrall adding a third late on to complete the victory. Aberystwyth had victory snatched from their grasp by two late Newtown goals at Park Avenue. Summer signing Ricky Evans scored his second goal in two games from the penalty spot to give the Seasiders a 57th-minute lead after ex-Aber keeper Dave Roberts had barged into Luke Sherbon. And Evans then turned provider for Sherbon to net the second a quarter of an hour from time. But defender Gavin Cadwallader got the Robins back in the game three minutes from time with a headed goal and Shane Sutton then snatched a last-gasp equaliser with another header deep into stoppage time.
