Welsh Premier League Football - Saints will give it their best shot

THE New Saints' manager Mike Davies says his side will give it their best shot in the Europa League play-offs on Thursday night.
Trailing 3-0 from the first leg against CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria last week, the Welsh Premier champions have much to do to over-turn the deficit and also a point to prove, after feeling they were on the wrong end of an injust result.
"Obviously we are disappointed to be three-nil down, the scoreline is a little bit harsh on reflection but it is what it is," says Davies.
"You can't afford to switch off against sides at this stage in the competition and we've got a big mountain to climb, but it's one I think that we are capable of doing.
"We just want to give it our best shot and come off the pitch with no regrets."
After a victory over Bohemians and defeat at the hands of Anderlecht, the Saints are enjoying their European experience.
"It's been a fantastic campaign and there are two ways of looking at it," Davies added.
"On the one hand you can say yes, we've achieved a lot and, on the other, massive disappointment to be three-nil down going into this game and it's a credit to the lads that we are so disappointed and we'll just have to see what happens.
"If it is the end then we can look back and be proud of what we've achieved, but we don't want it to stop.
"The lads are hungry and they've got a point to prove, they know they weren't three goals worse than CSKA last week, and it will be a good contest. We'll play the way we normally play and go at them to try and get the result that we need.
"We've taken a lot of positives from the first leg, we probably sat off and gave them too much respect, but you don't really know how good these teams are until you get out on the pitch with them.
"We'll play a little bit higher, try and get at get at them a bit more and stop them from having the time that they did, and hopefully that will cause them problems and we'll be able to capitalise."
