JOHN McKenna is the latest player from The New Saints to join former coach Andy Cale in the ranks at Newtown. Cale has already secured loan deals for striker Craig Whitfield and defender Sean Jones, and has now added the talented 20-year-old central midfielder or centre back, who was a member of the TNS Scholarship Programme and had trials with Ipswich and Preston North End. An English Colleges Under-19s representative, who is not related to former TNS manager Ken, McKenna has appeared 26 (+23) times in the Welsh Premier and scored six goals, including a crucial 96th-minute winner away at Neath last season. He has also appeared as a substitute in the Uefa Europa League against FRAM Reykjavik and in the Uefa Cup against Suduva. McKenna, who also picked-up a League Cup winners' medal at the end of last season in the 3-1 defeat of Rhyl, has been registered in time to make his debut on Saturday at home to Prestatyn Town.
