| Wrexham loan duo set for Airbus debuts |
| Saturday 28 August 2010 |
WREXHAM loam duo Leon Clowes and Nick Rushton will boost Airbus manager Craig Harrison's squad for the home game with Aberystwyth on Saturday. Central defender Clowes has now completed a four-match ban incurred with the Dragons, while striker Rushton is a new addition on a six-month deal following the departure of Jake Cassidy to Wolves. Aberystwyth were disappointed to surrender two points at home to Newtown in their last encounter, while the Wingmakers were comfortable 4-1 winners at Haverfordwest. Harrison is expected to hand a full-back berth to Phil Clarke, with Gio Feliciello unavailable through suspension. Nev Powell also has selection headaches with a full squad available for the tough home game with Llanelli, still smarting from last week's 3-0 home reverse at the hands of Port Talbot. Striker Jamie Reed is another strike option after returning from Australia and Powell told the Daily Post: "It’s a nice position to be in, Jamie looked sharp at Bala and could have had a hat-trick, while Alan Bull, Les Davies and Chris Jones are all in great form. "It’s not only up front where we’ve got competition for places and that’s really healthy for the club." The Citizens bid to maintain their 100% start which has brought wins over Neath and Bala Town, and Powell added: "We’ve had a great start to the season and winning breeds confidence, the lads are buzzing in training, everyone’s available and we’re expecting a good game. "If we do manage to win on Saturday then that would make it our best start to a season since I became manager." The Reds have midfielder Chris Venables sidelined through injury and Chris Holloway is expected to be out for three to four weeks after suffering a hamstring strain against the Steelmen. Goalkeeper Ashley Morris and defender Martyn Giles are also doubts while defender Ross Jones is suspended after receiving two yellow cards in the Talbot clash. Midfielder Michael Parker is in the frame for a place in Prestatyn Town’s starting line-up at Newtown after making a sub appearance in last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Haverfordwest having only returned from a holiday abroad a few hours earlier. "He’s had a full week of training so obviously comes into contention," said Town player-manager Neil Gibson, who has virtually a full-strength squad available. The Robins are boosted by the arrival of loanee midfielder John McKenna from The New Saints, who joins team-mates Craig Whitfield and Sean Jones at Latham Park under the wing of ex-boss Andy Cale.
