EXPERIENCED defender Dave Swanick was a transfer deadline day signing for Newtown manager Andy Cale.The 31-year-old, who previously played for Morecambe, Altrincham and the Stockport-based Unibond League side Woodley Sports, joined Connah's Quay Nomads during the summer of 2006 and made 26 (+2) Welsh Premier appearances for the Nomads. One of several players to follow manager Nev Powell from Deeside to Farrar Road three summers ago, he appeared a further 53 times in Bangor City colours. He also won Welsh Cup winner's medals with the Citizens in the 4-2 defeat of Llanelli in 2008 and the 2-0 victory over Aberystwyth in 2009. Swanick made his Robins' debut as a second-half substitute in Tuesday night's 4-2 League Cup defeat at Airbus UK Broughton alongside another new signing, forward Craig Davies, who was also previously with the Shrimps before joining GAP Connah's Quay in July 2008 from Lancaster City. |
