| Talbot boss Jones wants Airfield lift-off |
| Friday 03 September 2010 |
PORT Talbot manager Mark Jones wants an immediate response from his players to last week's 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Carmarthen Town. The struggling Old Gold pulled-off a shock win at the GenQuip Stadium and Jones admits that The Airfield is not the ideal venue for a recovery mission. Airbus UK Broughton have taken six points from their opening three matches, scoring eight goals in the process, and Jones says: "They are going great guns and Craig Harrison their manager is doing a fine job. "They are a good side, I saw them at Carmarthen and they won 4-1 that day, so it will be difficult up there. "Last week's loss was a big blow and it took me a few days to get over it. "We could be still top of the league, and when you get there you want to remain there. "I have thought about what went wrong. Perhaps, we were a bit frenzied rather than being patient. We rushed into things and have to be calmer and more controlled. "But Carmarthen have proved this week in the 0-0 cup draw with Aberystwyth that they are a far better side than people have been giving them credit for." With the exception of hamstring victim Gareth Phillips, Jones has a full squad at his disposal and could well restore Lee Surman to the starting 11 after his sub appearance against Town following an early-season ban.
