Eagles' big signings make home debuts
Sunday 05 September 2010
Lee TrundleNEATH hope high-profile signings Lee Trundle and Kristian O'Leary will attract a big crowd to The Gnoll for their home debuts in the Welsh Premier.
And the Eagles will also be bidding to bounce back to winning ways tomorrow after a surprise midweek League Cup defeat at Haverfordwest.
Newtown are Sunday's visitors and Neath boss Andy Dyer says: "We are glad to get a game at The Gnoll at last and we're all looking forward to it, we are hoping a big crowd will turn out to see our new signings.
"We have a number of former Swansea City players - including Lee Trundle and Kristian O'Leary - and we have special incentives for Swansea supporters to come to our matches.
"It would be brilliant and a big boost to the club if we had a good crowd, and Newtown are attractive opposition."
Robins' chief Andy Cale is expecting a tough examination of his side's credentials after a bright start to the season, with the Gnoll game preceding a trip to Llanelli next weekend.
"We're getting down to the real issues now," he said. "Both Neath and Llanelli will be expecting to finish in the top three and I will know how good the squad really is by the time we come back from our second South Wales trip."
Keeper Dave Roberts returns to the fold after a midweek warm-up injury at The Airfield.
Bala Town will be out to get their first points on the board in a home clash with fellow strugglers Haverfordwest.
Both sides have lost their opening three league games to prop up the table without a point to underline the importance of the clash, even at this early stage of the season.
The Lakesiders lost their latest game 2-1 at TNS, but manager Colin Caton took some positives from the result.
"I felt it was the best we played against TNS but we’re not getting our just rewards at the moment," said Caton.
"The lads are upbeat, we know it’s a big game as we need to pick up points against teams who will be in and around us in the table."
