| Mixed fortunes with the Jones's for McNally |
| Saturday 04 February 2012 |
RELEGATION strugglers Newtown failed in a bid to land local striker Elliot Jones before the Welsh Premier transfer window closed earlier this week.A prolific scorer with Montgomery, Jones decided to stay with the Mid Wales League outfit, but Robins' manager Bernard McNally has not given up hope of signing the player. "We would love to have Elliot at the club next season," he said. "He is a local player and just the type we want at the club." However, McNally did manage to bring in 26-year-old defender Andy Jones from Evesham United, who he knows from his time managing Hednesford United. A centre back who was selected to attend the English Universities' squad trials while studying at Worcester University in 2008, Jones has also been on the books of Shrewsbury Town, AFC Telford United, Bromsgrove Rovers, Stourport Swifts and Redditch United.
