Nine from Hotspur named in Anglesey XI

NINE Holyhead Hotspur players have been named in the latest Anglesey Island Games squad.

But the island will not be sending a team to next year’s Games in Bermuda due to difficulty in raising the necessary funding for a pool of 18 players and attendant staff.

Instead, the  coaches are beginning preparations to build a squad for the games in Jersey 2015.

Two friendlies have been lined-up against Cefn Druids and The New Saints on June 19 and 26 respectively, both to be played at Cemaes Bay.

The squad is: Ben Heald, Alex Jones, Gareth Owen, Dion Donohue, Mel McGinness, Mike Kelly, Jay Gibbs, Chris Saxon, Tom Nathan Edwards (all Holyhead), Paul Pritchard (Warrington Town), Chris Williams, Rhys Roberts, Iwan Williams (Porthmadog), Matty Hughes (Buckley Town), Asa Thomas (Trearddur Bay), Ryan Connolly (Unattached), Arwyn Owen (Llanfairpwll), Guto Hughes (Prestatyn Town) and Dale Murphy (Morawelon).
