NEWPORT County are reported to be interested in signing striker Lee Trundle, who is currently without a club following the demise of Neath.
Exiles' manager Justin Edinburgh was unavailable to comment on the Trundle rumours but the 35-year-old was on the brink of joining County two years ago when Dean Holdsworth was in charge, but opted instead to join Neath for a reported £2,000 a week.
Any deal for the veteran, who has also played for Wrexham, Bristol City and Leeds United, would likely be on a pay-as-you-play basis with a coaching role also a possibility, according to the South Wales Argus.
Trundle scored 26 goals from 56 Welsh Premier appearances during his two seasons at The Gnoll, having hit 15 in 17 appearances for Rhyl 10 years ago, a feat which brought him to the attention of Wrexham manager Brian Flynn.
