Ward denies the Eagles a win
BIG spenders Neath have only managed two points from three matches after being held to this 1-1 draw by Newtown at the Gnoll.
Chris Llewellyn kept his goal-a-game record against a Newtown side in which Gareth Jones and Dylan Blain were making their debuts.
Ross Stephens almost gave the Robins a shock lead before a superb swivel and shot in the sixth minute from Llewellyn converted a Craig Steins inside pass.
Keeper Anthony
Williams kept Newtown at bay, saving from Ward in a one-on-one while appeals for a penalty were waived away when a defender's arm appeared to get in the way of Adam Worton's shot.
Chances went begging for both sides in the second-half before Ward made no mistake from a Matthew Lewis cross.
Visiting keeper David Maguire saved well at the feet of Llewellyn, while Gavin Cadwallader and Jones both made important interceptions for the tiring Robins.
But it should have been three points for the Eagles as Llewellyn and Carl Shaw squandered gilt-edged chances with minutes remaining.
