ABERYSTWYTH Town have escaped a Welsh Premier points deduction after fielding an ineligible player.
Geoff Kellaway was promoted from the Seasiders' reserves and came on as a 77th minute substitute for Nick Evans in the 5-2 league victory at Cardiff Grange Quins on 14 January.
Park Avenue officials attended a personal hearing in Caersws on Wednesday at which they pleaded mitigating circumstances, as secretary Rhun Owen was hospitalised at the time.
The FAW has accepted Aber's explanation although the club has been fined, a decision which will interest Cwmbran Town, who face charges over the appearance of defenders Michael Binning and Nicky Ward.
Both are alleged to have played for more than two Saturday sides this season in contravention of FAW rules - Ward is said to have been registered with four and Binning three.
Last season, Bangor and Caersws were both charged with fielding ineligible players and escaped a points deduction, but Afan Lido were relegated following a three-point loss for playing the suspended Leigh Shrimpton. 9 March 2006
