AFTER losing 5-3 at home to Neath a month ago, Llanelli put themselves back in contention for
a League Cup quarter-final spot with a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture at The Gnoll on Wednesday night.
A second-minute goal from Rhys Griffiths, who headed-in from a Craig Williams cross, put the
Reds on the road to victory.
The Eagles held out until the 80th-minute when Griffiths grabbed his second of the night with
another header, this time from Mark Pritchard's cross, and sub Jordan Follows iced the cake
with another five minutes from time.
Tonight's opponents are level on six points but the other team in the group, Port Talbot Town,
are pointless and now have a mountain to climb to reach the last eight, although they can still
achieve it if they can win their remaining two games.
In the night's other game, Newtown secured a vital point in a goal-less draw at Caernarfon
to almost certainly book their place in the next stage. They lead the group with seven points and NEWI Cefn Druids can only head them on goal difference by winning their two outstanding games. 24 September 2008
